Detective Conan's School Trip Arc to Run as 2 1-Hour TV Specials in January

"Kurenai no Shūgaku Ryokō-hen" story about Kyoto adventure ran in chapters 1,000-1,005

The official website for the Detective Conan (Case Closed) anime revealed on Wednesday that the anime will get two one-hour specials that will air on January 5 and 12 next year. The specials, titled "Kurenai no Shūgaku Ryokō-hen" (Crimson School Trip), adapts the original manga's chapters 1,000 through 1,005.

The chapter's story centers on a school trip to Kyoto with Ran and Shinichi, who has temporarily returned to his true form. While there, they get involved in an incident. The story also features appearances by the characters Heiji Hattori, Kazuha Toyama, Momiji Ōoka, Soshi Okita, and Fumimaro Ayanokoji.

The arc ran in the manga to celebrate the manga's 1,000th chapter, the first manga series in Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine to reach the milestone. The 1,000th chapter ran in August last year.

Detective Conan has been running since 1994 and has spawned an ongoing anime series, and a yearly anime film series. Detective Conan: Zero the Enforcer (Meitantei Conan: Zero no Shikkōnin), the 22nd film in the series, opened on April 13, and earned the highest opening weekend record for the franchise, and is now also the highest-earning film in the franchise.
