Viz Releases Megaman NT Warrior

VIZ, LLC, one of the leading publishers and distributors of manga and anime for North American audiences, announced today the release of the wildly popular MEGAMAN NT WARRIOR series on home video and DVD. MEGAMAN NT WARRIOR premiered on television in 2003 and currently airs on Saturday mornings on the Kids WB. The first volume is available in stores now and has an SRP of $14.98 for the DVD and $9.98 for the VHS.

The first volume, titled "Jack In!," includes three episodes; a special bonus episode is contained on all DVD editions. The first 40,000 copies of the DVD will also feature a free limited edition MEGAMAN NT WARRIOR trading card.

MEGAMAN NT WARRIOR presents a compelling and exciting storyline that blends futuristic technology with fast paced action. Set in the year 200X, when everyone is connected to the Cyber Network, computers have turned the world into a bright and shiny utopia. But trouble in paradise is not far away. While the invention of the PET (Personal Electronic Terminals) and NetNavis (an artificial intelligence program) has brought great benefits to the world, computer hacking, virus spreading, and other high-tech crimes are major problems. A sinister organization called World Three has vowed to destroy this technological wonderland. Lan Hikari, an intensely curious and cheerful fifth grader, synchronizes with his NetNavigator called Megaman, and becomes a super-charged dynamo. Lan and Megaman do their best to thwart World Three's never-ending quest to take over the world.

"MEGAMAN NT WARRIOR is a tremendously popular property and VIZ is pleased to be the exclusive North American distributor of the anime series on home video and DVD," says Anthony Jiwa, director of marketing for VIZ, LLC. "The positive messages and plots in MEGAMAN NT WARRIOR encourage kids to always try their best, despite any obstacle that gets in the way."

In May of 2004, VIZ began publishing creator Ryo Takamisaki's original manga on which the TV series is based. The ongoing manga series has sold well over 1.5 million copies per month in Japan. At ShoPro Entertainment's consumer products division for North America, Megaman: NT Warrior is continually growing. The best selling Megaman Battle Network video game from CAPCOM, sold more than 1.6 million copies in 2003. The franchise has also spawned a trading card game from Decipher, a full range of toys from Mattel, and a full line of related kids' apparel.
