Appliya Pushes into iPhone Anime & Manga Market with Funding from Softbank

APPLIYA Inc. (Location: Minato-ku, Tokyo, ceo: Haleo Shiiya) has received 29,999,898jpy (us$340,000) in new share acquisition from Japanese iPhone provider SoftBank Mobile Corp. The company has come to the following agreement with SoftBank Inc. regarding third-party new share allocation in order to expand the existing business lineup and rapidly growing production and development of iPhone user applications. The company's capital will be 25,000,000jpy (us$280,000) following new share allocation. The details of this new share allocation to a third-party are as follows.

These funds are being used for research and expansion of Appliya's reach into the international iPhone ap- plication market. Appliya's 2009 application schedule is focused on bringing uniquely Japanese culture related applications to an international audience. These include exclusive licensing deals with major anime and manga producers. There will also be collaborations with Japanese artists and photographers as well as Haraju- ku fashion related applications, Akihabara otaku related applications and other applications focused on more traditional aspects of Japanese culture, such as Ukiyo-e. Appliya will be simultaneously launching their first round of anime applications along with an extensive international marketing campaign starting in February 2009.

Appliya is tracking Japanese culture trends in the US through US and Japan based research teams.

APPLIYA Inc. has released 26 iPhone applications since October 2007 ranging from idea applications for pet owners to fortune-telling applications supervised by experts.
