pixiv and Square Enix Commemorate New Tomb Raider Release Through Contest
Tokyo, Japan - March 18th, 2013 - pixiv Inc (Representative: Takanori Katagiri, Headquarters: Shibuya, Tokyo) has announced a collaborative illustration contest with Square Enix Holdings Co., Ltd. (Representative: Yoichi Wada, Headquarters: Shinjuku, Tokyo) to commemorate the release of Square Enix's video game, Tomb Raider.
The contest will feature Lara Croft, Tomb Raider's protagonist, along with the game's deserted wasteland island theme. pixiv and Square Enix will be looking for illustrations of a strong, female survivor braving the elements of Mother Nature. The grand prize winner will be rewarded 10,000 yen along with a copy of the new release, Tomb Raider, for PlayStation 3.
Contest Period: Monday, March 18th 2013 to Monday, April 15th 2013 23:59 JST.

■ Tomb Raider
In 1996, an action adventure game called Tomb Raider was developed by
Core Design and published by Eidos Interactive. Later games were
developed by Crystal Dynamics and due to Square Enix's purchase of
Eidos, Square Enix now publishes all releases of Tomb Raider. It
pioneered the action adventure genre and the new Tomb Raider is a
complete reformation of the original's visuals and gameplay. The
series' main character, the iconic Lara Croft, was met with such
success that she was entered into the Guinness Book of Records as Most
Successful Human Virtual Game Heroine. The April 25th 2013 release of
Tomb Raider will retell the origin of Lara Croft.
