U.S. Debut of the Japan Expo

SAN JOSE, CA – AUGUST 15TH 2013- The Japan Expo Experience

Since its launch in France 14 years ago, Japan Expo has become one of the world's largest celebrations of Japanese culture and entertainment. Japan Expo blends the very best of Japanese traditional culture with modern Pop sensations.

Thrust yourself into the culture of Japan, where you can see the best and hottest items and content being produced. Come by the JFC booth, the importers of Pocky, to taste the best snacks of Japan. Or get a sneak peek at the newest anime such as

You'll have the chance to attend more programming than you could possibly fit into one weekend. We have many guests from both the Japanese entertainment and American Animation industries. Each guest will be doing autograph sessions so you have a chance to meet your favorite! If music is more your taste, come see any of our amazing musical acts from Japan, such as Dempagumi. We will have great concerts each day of the festival covering everything from Pop to Koto. If traditional Japanese culture interests you, stop by our cultural stage for Awa Odori dancers, from the largest dance festival in Japan, or maybe spend some time at our martial arts area to watch the karate demonstrations.

If you are in the mood to express your inner fan, stop by one of our many cosplay meetups! Yusuke Kozaki, character designer for Fire Emblem: Awakening and Noriyuki Iwadare, composer for a number of titles in the Phoenix Wright series will be appearing at their series meet ups and you never know what might happen at any of the many others! And of course, you must never forget to take the chance to shop among all of the amazing vendors and explore the wealth of beautiful imported products or amazing entertainment goods available. Our vendors are a reason all on their own to come to Japan Expo!

JTS Group
JTS Group was established by three people who shared a passion for Japanese culture:
-Sandrine Dufour ; Co-Founder and Sales director
-Thomas Sirdey, Co-Founder Director of Business Development
- Jean Francois Dufour, Cofounder and general manager.
They created Japan Expo as a window into Japan to discover its culture, while taking care to build real bridges between different aspects of Japanese Entertainment. The goal was behind Japan Expo's creation was to increase interest in Japanese culture among young people the world over.

In 14 years, Japan Expo has grown from a single show of 3,200 visitors which consisted of 25,000 Sq. ft. By 2013, the Japan Expo brand had 4 European shows, the largest of which attracted over 230,000 attendees, in Paris. JTS Group decided to partner with SEFA entertainment to bring the fun and excitement of Japan Expo to the US.

SEFA ENTERTAINMENT
Created in partnership between JTS group and Sean Chiocankitmun, SEFA Entertainment is bringing the Japan Expo brand to the United States. Staffed by a team of experienced event planners, SEFA is creating a show that combines the best of two worlds, American and Europe, while transporting participants to a third, Japan.

With a background in psychology and marketing, Sean has over 12 years of experience working with some of the largest cultural conventions across the United States. Sean was Otakon's Chairman in 2007,2008 and 2010. He also served on the Board of Directors for Otakon from 2003-2010. During his tenure, he led Otakon to over a 60% growth in attendees and grew their revenue stream by 50%.

Finally, after years of preparation, Sean founded SEFA Entertainment with his partners from the JTS group in France. He feels that to be the best, Japan Expo must take a global view of fandom by uniting the European and American markets.

Japan Expo is the premier event of SEFA Entertainment, based in San Francisco, California. SEFA Entertainment is the American subsidiary of JTS Group, originators of Japan Expo located in Paris, France. Founded in 1999, Japan Expo is the largest Japanese popular culture event of its kind in Europe, and one of the largest in the world with 219,614 certified attendees in 2012.

Since the creation of this event the Japan Expo brand has expanded to include a number of events across Europe throughout the calendar year.
