The Fourth Annual Voltage Script Writing and Illustration Contest is Now Open!
SHIBUYA, TOKYO Nov. 19th, 2015 - Voltage Inc. is happy to announce the opening of their 4th Annual
International Story Writing and Illustration Contest, as of Thursday, November 19th, 2015. The annual
contest is held to find new talented writers and illustrators, to collaborate with Voltage in the production
of new visual romance apps. The contest consists of three categories; story writing, graphic-style
illustration, and anime-style illustration, with a $5000 grand prize per category.
The original domestic contest, with two categories, was aimed at Japanese speakers. Since 2013, Voltage
Inc. has supported its North American-based subsidiary Voltage Entertainment USA in holding a three
category international contest, seeking English-speaking illustrators and writers for original English-
language romance apps.
Voltage Inc. is the leading Japanese company for mobile visual romance apps, with over 70 apps and over
40 million users. In recent years, Voltage has been expanding to localizing its apps into English, as well
as creating English-language original visual romance apps. As such, Voltage is searching for international
writers and illustrators with whom to collaborate.
■ What are “Visual Romance Apps”?
Visual romance apps are interactive, story-based mobile apps, in which the user can be the heroine of their own
romantic story. Users decide how to respond to various scenarios within the app, resulting in different romantic
endings dependent on their choices.

Scenario:
Two university soccer players are after the heart of the heroine in a bittersweet love triangle.
Please create your scripts, characters, and images based on this situation.

■ Script Writing Category
Submission Requirements
1. The story should be complete in three chapters (each chapter is 800-1000 words, for a total of 2400-3000
words for the entire story).
2. On the cover page, please write the story title, your name. (if using a pen name, please also write your real
name), your occupation, and your email address. (We will contact finalists for their address and phone
number.)
3. On the second page, please write only the story title.
4. Please start the story itself from the third page.
5. You may not submit any story that has been previously published anywhere else. Works must be original.
(This includes stories rewritten for this format and stories submitted to any other contests. All are not
allowed.)
6. You must be at least 18 years of age to enter.
7. Native level English skills are required.

- Draw two full body pictures in casual wear, in color.
- Draw three upper body portraits of that same character with different expressions.
2. One picture of a female character (in color)
- Draw one upper body picture (bust up).
3. One illustration with background (in color)
- Draw a romantic scene with two characters, with a background.
