FEMM Drop 'Outta the Clouds' Music Video, from New Album 'Tokyo Ex Machina'
New Tokyo's sentient mannequin duo FEMM have released new music video for 'Outta the Clouds'. The track is an electronic, groovy R&B number shaped by RiRi and LuLa's feelings through the pandemic. It's also the second new music video to be released from latest album Tokyo Ex Machina.
'Outta the Clouds' sees FEMM work with producer Woo Min Lee, responsible for popular tracks from Kpop acts TWICE, ITZY and NiziU. The music video was directed by Masashi Muto, and is the first time the Japanese filmmaker has worked with FEMM, having previously directed videos for Vengaboys, Kelly Rowland and Ayumi Hamasaki. It also sees FEMM switch the pop and girl-like aesthetics found in previous video 'We Got Each Other' in favour of more mature, beauty oriented hair and makeup styles.
The video visually represents the song's lyrical message; once the invisible walls (represented by acrylic shields and vinyl curtains) are gone, the fog will clear and there will be a brighter future.
