New York, November 13, 2023 – CAMI Music and The Bowery Presents announced today, a special musical experience, Joe Hisaishi Symphonic Concert: Music from the Studio Ghibli Films of Hayao Miyazaki will return to New York City this time at Madison Square Garden on July 11, 2024. The event celebrates the esteemed partnership between revered composer Joe Hisaishi (Departures, Spirited Away) and beloved filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki (Spirited Away). Long standing friends and collaborators, Hisaishi and Miyazaki have worked together for over thirty years, combining their musical and storytelling talents on eleven films for the renowned production house Studio Ghibli. Hisaishi's illustrious scores - including those from Princess Mononoke, My Neighbor Totoro and the Oscar-winning Spirited Away – will be performed by the American Symphony Orchestra, the Brooklyn Youth Chorus and MasterVoices conducted by Hisaishi. The music will accompany montages from Miyazaki's films, breathing new life into their timeless work. Tickets will be available for presale via Ticketmaster on Wednesday, November 15 th , 2023 at 10 AM ET through Thursday, November 16th at 10 PM ET, and on sale to the general public on Friday, November 17 th , 2023 at 10 AM ET.

ABOUT JOE HISAISHI
Hisaishi is a composer and musical director known for over 80 film scores and solo albums. His music explores different genres including minimalist, European and Japanese classical and experimental electronic. He worked closely with anime director Hayao Miyazaki, for whom he composed eleven film scores. His works have received many awards. Hisaishi received the Japanese Academy Award for Best Music seven times. In July 2004, he took on the position of Principal Music Director of the New Japan Philharmonic World Dream Orchestra. His concert series JOE HISAISHI presents MUSIC FUTURE and Future Orchestra Classics brought him great popularity. Hisaishi has worked with a variety of artists including Philip Glass, David Lang and Mischa Maisky, as well as with notable orchestras such as the Hong Kong Philharmonic, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and London Symphony Orchestra. He is Visiting Professor at Kunitachi College of Music, Composer in Residence with the New Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, and was recently appointed Music Director of the Japan Century Symphony Orchestra.
