Rurouni Kenshin Heads To Jump Festa '24 Super Stage Red

Livestream of the stage will be available outside of Japan for overseas fans!

Tokyo, Japan (December 12, 2023) - Shueisha, Inc. has announced details of the Rurouni Kenshin stage on Super Stage RED happening at the annual event JUMP FESTA. JUMP FESTA '24 will be held December 16-17, 2023 (JST) at Makuhari Messe. JUMP Super Stage RED will feature 10 popular hit titles and will be livestreamed on the official YouTube channel “JUMP Channel” so that overseas fans can enjoy JUMP FESTA as well. JUMP Super Stage RED will be livestreamed outside of Japan with simultaneous English interpretation.

Rurouni Kenshin is a legendary masterpiece that has received support from people all over the world and of all generations, with a total of 72 million copies of the manga series in circulation and a cumulative box office revenue of 19.3 billion yen for the live-action film series. The original work by Nobuhiro Watsuki began serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1994, and has spawned TV anime adaptations, OVA, live-action films, and the sequel manga Rurouni Kenshin: Hokkaido Arc currently serialized in Jump SQ. The new anime adaptation is currently being broadcast on Fuji TV's Noitamina and other channels. The timeless, classic, universal story and the fierce beliefs of the characters are once again vividly reflected.

On the day of the event, there will be a live reading performance by popular voice actors from the series , as well as an entertainment show integrated into the venue that utilizes lights, images, powerful sounds, and the latest AR technology.Look back at the famous scenes of the anime, which aired to great acclaim this year. In addition to behind-the-scenes stories and important anime announcements that can only be heard at the stage, a special video will be released just for JUMP FESTA as well!

Created by Nobuhiro Watsuki, Rurouni Kenshin was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from Issue #19 in 1994 to Issue #43 in 1999 (Jump Comics Version, 28 volumes in total) and received great acclaim both domestically and internationally. Kenshin Himura, a legendary swordsman who was feared as the Hitokiri Battosai at the end of the Edo period, took up the oath of not killing again after the Meiji Restoration. The story depicts a man with a reverse-edged sword (sakabato) that cannot cut people, who helps people along with his friends; a completely new hero who has overwhelming power but grows and suffers from the mistakes he has made; a completely new image of a hero drawn with delicate brushstrokes. The fast-paced battle scenes and moving story that explores the hearts of people have been adapted into TV anime and live-action movies, and are supported widely by different generations. In July 2023, the new Rurouni Kenshin anime adaptation began its broadcast.
