GDH Group Announces the Formation of New Content Fund

GDH Group Announces
the Formation of New Content Fund

An investment fund aimed to support non-group media businesses
2006.11.21
GDH K.K. (Head Office: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo, CEO: Shinichirō Ishikawa, Securities Code: TSE Mothers 3755, hereafter GDH) has announced that one of its group companies, GDH Capital K.K. (Head Office: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo, Managing Director: Fumiaki Gotoh, hereafter GDH Capital), will be setting up an investment fund, called the "Content Firm Contribution Fund" (Content Firm Contribution Toshi Jigyou Yugen Sekinin Kumiai), with starting capital of JPY 650 million.

This is the first attempt by the GDH group to establish a fund targeted for investing in companies outside the group. Utilizing the group's extensive knowledge and expertise, the fund will support and invest in small to medium scale enterprises that develop high-quality content in the field of music, games, broadcasting, feature films, mobile content, etc.

Leveraging on its previous experiences of setting up SPCs (special-purpose companies) and the entertainment content fund (established earlier this year), GDH Capital will provide support to venture companies that specialize in development of content businesses that are expected to generate new demand in the industry or are highly synergistic with the group's businesses. Through this new scheme, GDH Capital aims to maximize the growth potential and value of the investees. By expanding its investment opportunities externally, the GDH group will actively support media content venture firms and thus contribute to the development of the content industry in Japan.

This newly established fund will be supported by NIF SMBC Ventures Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo, President: Shin-ichi Yamamura) which will be providing investment as well as consultation on management of the fund.
