Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid DVD 1Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid DVD 1
Not much Kaname, but effective new villains, great art, a solid dub, and a healthy set of extras highlight darker, more intense, and more graphic content. A very strong start for the third FMP series.
Kashimashi ~Girl Meets Girl~ G.novel 1Kashimashi ~Girl Meets Girl~ G.novel 1
The fast-moving events of this first volume combine to form a story of many moods. The time has come to rethink the love triangle.
Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki OAV 3 DVD 3Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki OAV 3 DVD 3
One of the greatest mysteries of the Tenchi universe is finally resolved with a completely unexpected answer in the third OVA series’ final episode. A definite improvement over the previous volume.
Hellsing OAV DVD 1Hellsing OAV DVD 1
It’s been a long wait, Hellsing fans, but the adaptation you’ve been waiting for is finally here.
Hayate the Combat Butler G.novel 1Hayate the Combat Butler G.novel 1
Yes, it’s as absurd as the title suggests, but that same absurdity is also responsible for it being terribly funny. It won’t make you think much but will make you laugh a lot.
Kodocha DVD 9
Barely a hint of serious content can be found as these four episodes barrel through one crazy situation after another, resulting in the most consistently and unrelentingly funny volume of the series to date.
Kannazuki no Miko DVD 3
Viewers who feel a cynical sneer surfacing whenever something delves into triple-hanky territory will want to give this show wide berth, but for a particular kind of viewer, watching this final volume will be like falling into heaven.
Guru Guru Pon-chan
There isn’t much for new readers of the series to get excited about.
Pichi Pichi Pitch G.novel 2
Mermaid Melody might be able to exist peacefully as fare for females under ten, but for any other audience, it falls pretty short of the “worth-reading” mark.
Tetsujin 28 DVD 5
Conspiracies abound in this volume as the final story arc kicks into high gear, but even better, the characters finally start to really grow on you.
Train Man: A Shojo Manga GN
While other retellings of Train Man focus on the social misfit trying to win over the beautiful woman, this one tilts the viewpoint so that young female readers can see the social misfit as a love interest as well.
Guyver: The Bioboosted Armor DVD 1
Despite ADV’s diligent efforts to promote this revival as something special, this is, so far, just a run-of-the-mill, monster-of-the-week monster-bashing series likely to only appeal to action junkies and fans of earlier incarnations.
This Ugly Yet Beautiful World DVD 3
This volume is proof positive that underneath all of the romantic-comedy hi-jinks of previous installments lurks the threads of an unflinching character-driven romantic drama.
Noein - to your other self DVD 1
Mix a slice-of-life story about 6th graders with weird dimension-hopping sci-fi elements and you have Noein. An interesting visual style, edgy action scenes, and distinctive characters all contribute to an opening volume well worth checking out.
