st_owly requested this one. I adjusted the age ranges a little bit.
I first got into anime through a coworker. We sat next to each other and somehow got to talking about animation. He mentioned that he was a fan of Japanese animation and suggested that I check it out, because he thought I'd like it.
I did, I do, and the rest is history. My bank account will never be the same. |

Chefneer, I'm not Owly but I have to say- you've made the question almost meaningless.
I would have gone the other way and narrowed the early ages.
Raised on it, 5-10, 10-14, 15-18, 19-25.
I figure There's a significant enough difference whether you watched something from childhood, late childhood, high school, college age, or adulthood.
As it is, it'll just be almost everyone voting for the first two options. |

I thought about that, I considered a ten year range, but this is close to what st_owly requested, and a five year range would make for a very long poll.
This is not rocket science, and if the majority of votes end up in the first two or three categories, so be it. It is not unexpected. However, some of us came to the medium later in life - who knows, maybe more than a few. They should be represented as well.
If you want to give the specific age when you got into it, that's what the comments section is for. |

| I also considered splitting childhood up a bit more, but I thought very few people would have seriously been into anime below the age of 10. Yes, you may have watched Pokemon or DBZ on TV as a kid, but the question is when did you start getting into anime, not when did you first ever watch anime. |

I'd suggest splitting 10-15, 15-20 and 20-30, because it seems that most of the people become fans in one of these periods. It would be interesting which one is the most dangerous for our future kids
For me it was divided- I was about 10 when I've started watching anime named anime in popular vocabulary, ordering manga and subscribing magazines. After most of he series were stopped being aired and magazines went down I had a long break. When I was 15 I discovered online fanbase and quickly felt like home. |

I was in the before 10 age. It's pretty hard for me to say which was my first anime was but I'm gonna guess it was Inuyasha. That or Gurren Lagann. Ever since then I've been hooked and I can't say it's been a bad thing. |

My first time was probably akira and porco rosso and i kinda hated them
Akira was forbidden under 18 to the tv , it was very weird and special
Porco rosso i didn't wanted because of the head of the hero haha but after i saw a bit and it was amazing.
I didn't knew miyazaki at the time |

10-25. Poll seems kinda goofy with such a massive age range. One choice covers elementary school to post-college.
Anyways, I really got exposed to anime in my freshmen year of college, so like 18-19. That was when I...
- saw my first anime movie (Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust)
- saw a complete anime series (Cowboy Bebop)
- saw my first fansub (DBZ Buu Saga)
- purchased my first anime (Spriggan) |

| I've been into anime since I was in preschool, but when I was in 5th grade I was bullied (brutally) for liking it, so I didn't like it anymore, but in 8th grade my interest in anime was restored, then I joined my high school's anime club the next year. |

I would've voted for the "below 10" option, since I was 8-9 when I started watching Pokemon and Digimon. But i didn't watch a lot of anime until I was 11. At that point, all I did after school was watch Toonami (which consisted of a lot of anime, such as DBZ, Gundam, etc.) . I also watched a lot of Adult Swim around that time too.
But what really did it for me was a combination of reading Love Hina at 13 and coming across Anime Network OnDemand which had a large selection of anime that I never knew existed. That resulted in the birth of a new otaku. ^^
So it's "10-25" for me. |

| Of course, I watched Pokemon and whatever when I was younger, but I was still below ten when I started my first "real" manga--Fruits Basket. |
