I'd really like to know what he was watching.
Nothing at all, just like any other porn of legal adults or fictional creations. |

That's true, however he was apparently judged and punished and he went through rehabilitation programs precisely not to be a threat anymore. The only thing he is being judged for in this case is the possession of hentai anime and that alone doesn't make someone a threat. |

Does NZ sell violent video games? If they do, don't they know that violent video games could encourage people "to migrate from there to the real thing."

Oh, and god forbid they ever receive any R-rated films. |

If you visit Gelbooru sometimes after you viewed about 10 pages for the first time. Sometimes you get a on page pop-up for 3D CGI rendered porn which features trolls/pixies. I wonder if it's that. Exactly looks pretty high quality. Never looked at it myself as it's not really my thing.

Meanwhile:
So apparently sexually exploiting children isn't as bad as watching cartoon porn of fictional pixies and trolls. I remember growing up on Earth, but I no longer have any idea what crazy planet I somehow ended up on now. |

That regulation you're referring to (a.k.a. Ishihara's law) so far only affected: - Non-R18-Labeled mangas with strong content(s) spoiler[ http://www.sankakucomplex.com/2011/02/17/manga-canned-after-tokyo-deems-reprint-harmful/ http://www.sankakucomplex.com/2012/10/23/tokyo-bans-more-indefensible-manga/ ] - and mostly shoujo mangas with strong content, no R18 label. spoiler[ http://www.sankakucomplex.com/2008/10/30/prefecture-banning-ero-shoujo-manga-as-harmful/ http://www.sankakucomplex.com/2008/09/11/ero-shoujo-manga/ ] The lolicon stuff you detest will pretty much continue to thrive uninterrupted because of COMIKET, and the fact that lolicon-ish mangas already come with R18 label (authorities in Japan... which forever ensures low sales and out-of-sight-out-of-mind in all but otaku stores in Japan. Again, in Japan under "Ishihara's Law", authorities are only concerned whether the manga or anime (on DVD/Bluray) in question comes with R18 sticker. Authors are still free to publish anything imaginable but as long as they clearly distinguish what's deemed appropriate for General Audience (no R18 sticker) and what should be relegated to R18 corner (sticker required and stored in the backrooms) |

I Am Not A Laywer, but in most states in the US, an assault charge doesn't mean you've actually laid a finger on anyone, it only means that you made someone fear that you were about to. Actually harming another person is the battery in assault and battery. We don't know the nature of the prior conviction, and locking a man up like a dog based on flawed assumptions of past wrongdoings is an injustice if there ever was one. |

Honestly speaking, I can never understand why people have such fascination and need to impose their values and morals on others. Why is there a need to prevent others from enjoying what they like if it doesn't harm or affect anyone else, especially yourself?
Violent video games, R-rated movies, lolicon manga and anime. If you don't like them or find them objectionable, here's a suggestion for you: Don't play/watch/read them. It's as simple as that. |

As per article
If it's such a big problem, the Japanese Mass-GOMI* would be all over this... but it's not and the comentator above is overstating. * mass-gomi = lamestream media As I said above, they're only a "huge problem" when mangas are not properly defined into 2 simple categories: - General Audience - R18 |
