All the hip, phat kids have been dying to see a Space Invaders movie. I'm sure it'll be a big hit and that the producers made a wise decision to take the name from an old-school videogame and staple it onto some stupid cgi-fest that has nothing to do with the game whatsoever. Like Battleship, there isn't actually any legitimate way to have a substantial story or any sort of relevance to the thing it takes its name from.

How does that even work? Space Invaders is the most generic title you can think of for a movie. Aliens are invading, from space. Not sure what there is to work with, or screw up for that matter.

This film will be as fruitful as Battleship.

Not that I needed any more proof that Hollywood is creatively bankrupt, but here it is. It's almost like someone said "let's make a movie guaranteed to be dire".

You want "Generic"? You hire Akiva Goldsman. (I remember a game console revival that tried to put a plot into Space Invaders, with four teens shooting POV at the invaders in city streets. I think that's the movie they've been trying to make all these years.) |

Please, God...for the love of it all...why? They really just need to stop. They're really reaching for things to adapt into films. They really ought to try writing original material. Video Game adaptations don't really work well on the transition from interactive media to movie.

I just hope it keeps to the source material in that the hero's spaceship can only move horizontally and the aliens all move in the same predictable pattern, but at an increasing pace.

Don't forget this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wTa3XigcMjs lol But seriously, it saddens me they spend so many millions in producing lousy movies, how many 1 cours anime series could be produced with that money? I hope this one bombs like Battleship did at the very least. |

I'm predicting this will be horrible. Just like Battleship, I won't watch it.
...Man they've truly run out of ideas. I've read all these awesome stories and books and movie makers want to make genricish things with iconic game's titles as their base... ...shame. |
