I'm pretty sure the ImaginAsian stuff is TRSI exclusive.

Here is a page with an order form you can fill out and mail with a money order.

Randall, you are officially hardcore enough to rock the Choco Taco (longstanding in-joke in my group). I mean, I've been tempted to buy Laserdiscs (saw the Pioneer LD's of Tenchi Universe for $10 a pop at Anime North 2 years ago and damn near brought 'em home) but you not only own them, but apparently get them signed AND own equipment to view them upon.

Damnit, as my ally on these forums, I cannot allow you to upstage me. Here's hoping my Mega Millions ticket hits that 250 million!

the comedy scenes are pretty priceless. One favorite is when one of the players is distraught at having to go against an infamous Chinese player. His parents try to calm him down by saying, “He may not be that good! Some black people can't dance!” and in a look of utter shock, he looks up and says, “…Really?”

Yeah, that's definately an odd joke.

"Mushi-shi": Saw a trailer and it does look pretty. I think I'll end up watching it eventually.

"Cat's Eye": Sounds fun. I'll probably make more of an effort to see this than "Mushi-shi" since I want to find more (really) old shows I might like.

Shelf: I could never do that to DVDs. The only exception I can think of would be "Black Lagoon," and that would just be to put them in the metal case (oh, the irony). I like how there is actually a link to a description of LDs. Though...
Quote:
DVDs have not taken off in Japan with quite as much vigor as in the States, but while LDs maintain a presence, DVDs are gaining ground rapidly.

Exactly how long ago was that written?

Can I be the new hentai reviewer? Twisted Evil

God, I love that response. Something beautiful. . . veiny font. . . screaming. Just priceless. Ever considered a career in stand-up Bamboo?

I'm not much for most comedies and I've almost completely abandoned live action. (Just had too many favorite shows get cancelled or turn to crap. When even your favorite soap opera goes under, you start to think nothing's safe.) Ping Pong will not be joining my collection any time soon despite the excellent review.

Mushi-Shi, however, will likely find it's way to my shelf just as soon as the twenty-fifth anniversary of my birth has passed and my long suffering is rewarded with a bounty of green paper. (In less lyrical terms, after my birthday cash comes in.) I saw the first episode on a Newtype disc and, I have to say, it was very different. I'm not sure if I really enjoyed it so much as I felt strangely moved by it. It made me feel calm, which is rare for me.

Cat's Eye sounds kind of fun, but I don't think I could take it seriously at all. Unitards and rollers skates just. . . no. (Also, I'm pretty sure this is English dubless, which is a big problem for I, the heathen dub lover.)

I'm not much for thieves anyway, unless their names are Yuffie or Rikku.

I've been considering Shonen Onmyoji for a while. This review has raised the possibility of my getting it, but I still think I'd need to see a proper preview of it first. I've got so many other series coming out that are in my To-Buy list.

Anything with a monster that looks like escaped from a hentai deserves some consideration.

And the true Top Five cutest animals of all list is 1) kittens, 2) arctic foxes, 3) bunnies, 4) sheep, and 5) ferrets.

Ping Pong's a movie, dude. It's a one-shot movie, so there's no chance of it getting "cancelled" ever. Do you not ever watch movies anymore?

Sad A life without movies would be sad.

Thanks Bamboo Dong. With those pics you supplied of the Cat's Eye ending, I finally understand the Lucky Star reference about the unitards from episode 17.

Aww thats a shame, I must have missed the announcement. Regardless of whether you gave a good rating or bad, it was always very comical. I'll miss it. But I kinda understand why you stopped too.

On another note, there is something about the term "veiny font" that makes my skin crawl

But if you don't review hentai, you won't be considered a professional like Chris. Rolling Eyes

I think another person got it confused for Ping Pong Club. Maybe Viz should have used the Japanese title. Sorry, I just had to rip off that Balls of Fury joke.

Miss Bamboo could be the female response to Colombian comedian Andrés López IMHO. But I guess that Miss Bamboo must have a more refined, subtle sense of humor Wink.

You're right with number one, but my list goes:

1-Kittens/Cats
2-Sheep
3-Pandas
4-Turtles
5-Ducklings

Cats FTW!

I didn't word my post as well as I needed to. Embarassed

I just got fed up with live action TV and that led to a decreasing interest in live action movies too. It didn't help that every single movie I went to see had either 1) a baby crying, 2) someone on a cell phone, or 3) a couple of idiots talking constantly. It happened so much, I just plain stopped going to the movies. I probably haven't bought more than two or three movies all year and I used to buy 10+!

Mostly I was just saying that I wasn't going for it due to it being a comedy. I just thought I'd mention my live action woes as a supporting reason. (Note to self: improve the clarity of the prime point next time.)

I don't know, having to toss the covers isn't a practice I'm a fan of. For the first time since I started buying anime, I skipped an art box release, for this very reason. The Story of Saiunkoku art box was just not the kind of box I wanted on my shelf.

That is impressive Randall. I never thought to do that with my anime. Which would be smart in one sense because I have so damn much I have to continuously find more and more places to stash it. Right now it's in 3 rooms and the attic. Where'd you get such binders/pages that can hold cd/dvds like that? Perhaps it's because I've never out right looked for something like that but I've never seen something like that before. All the recent shelf worthy collections have raised my competitive nature. I feel I must send in my own collection now. My handle Psycho also applies to my spending habits. Rolling Eyes

As for the cutest animals list, you all have it way wrong. Let me let you all in on the worlds true cutest animal list.

1. Veal Saltimbocca
2. Roast Duck in Red Wine Reduction Sauce
3. Cornish Game Hens with Garlic and Rosemary
4. Veal Scallopini
5. Braised Garlic Lemon Pheasant

If you've been following xxxHolic and Tsubasa, you might recognize that Cat's Eye seems to be one of CLAMP's favorite shows. There are numerous references in both of them to it.

I've always thought it would be great to shear sheep into rectangles, so that they'd move in flocks of blocks.

*shudder for #1 and #5.* Loaches and plecostomuses are pretty cute, though. And octopuses = excellent.

Richard J, I think you should consider Netflix, so you won't have to deal with crying babies and cell phones. The world of movies is vast and great. <3
