Like I said, I've been using IE for over 15 years and it's been good to me so I've never had any reason to change it.
On top of that, I've spent many of those years putting up with asshats who are all "Dur hur why do you use Internet Explorer? It sucks! Use Firefox!" and I refuse to give those people the satisfaction. I do have Firefox, but I only use it for websites that are so bad with ads that the site is unbrowsable without ad blocker. But I've always found Firefox to be slower than IE, plus it has to update pretty much every time I open it. |

The problem with Internet Explorer is that IE6 became the final version after Microsoft killed Netscape and people started coding to it so closely that Microsoft couldn't change even broken behavior without completely breaking very important customers' web apps. Compatibility mode and Enterprise mode help, but ultimately anything running on its Trident rendering engine is held back by the decision to stop updating IE until Firefox came along(hence Edge). IE11's not going anywhere, but it's not evolving anymore; it's strictly for legacy purposes as far as Microsoft's concerned.
As for Firefox updating everytime you blow your nose, they got that from Google, along with their current UI design and upcoming neutered extension interface. Pale Moon's been pretty good about the release rate, though HTML5 features are a little weak at the moment, but version 27 will improve that. Other than that, you're pretty much down to Chrome and its litany of clones. |

Let me know if removing the box-shadow fixes the problem.

You give me satisfaction by forcing yourself to use IE and suffer for it. How about that. |

What rude comments, exactly? Do you mean my accurate depiction of browser elitists?
How do I do that? I googled it but the results are all Greek to me...
Mild inconveniences, sure, but suffering? Never. |

It's in the CSS in the custom or advanced skin model. |

Yeah, I have no idea what that is or how to do it. I've noticed that the quality only drops on certain pages. Forum + side bar up reduces the quality, while minimizing the side bar fixes it. News articles, columns and the like all display it properly. Quite curious. Anyways, I modified one of my Zesitira skins, replacing Edna with Judith from Tales of Vesperia because hot damn. It's a bit distracting how the top of the Judith image is cut off like that, but the alternate option is too small compared to Alisha. |

When you create your skin, you are given several "basic" models. - Outer Sides - Centered - Inner sides / corners One you're in the edit screen however there are 2 more models. - Custom - Advanced Custom allows you much more control of the alignment of each image. Advanced allows you to modify the CSS directly. CSS is the code used to tell your browser how to display a webpage... it's an expansion to html. If you select the Advanced model, it will generate generic code to display your skin the way you have it currently set up. You can make small edits to that code, for example removing the box-shadow, which will remove the fade on the side of your image. I suspect that it is the box-shadow effect that is creating the issue you are experiencing. |

Okay, I got you. So I first edited the box-shadow line to read 0px for all values, and then I deleted the box-shadow line all together but neither fixed it.

@Vaisaga
Did you clear your browser's cache? If not the browser might still be using the old CSS. I have had that happen. |

Cleared it, still didn't fix it.
It's fine, I'll live with it. |

You wouldn't have to live with it if you used the superior Firefox like I d—
Goddamn flash player crashed, again! ARGH BTW the one with Edna is better, but I don't use skins and that one is still there if someone wants to use it so I guess it doesn't matter that much. I'd maybe use skins if they altered the entire look of the site instead of just adding pictures to the sides. But I guess something like isn't possible due to many reasons, probably. |

About the biggest change to the layout you can make is if you only have an image on one side the main site will be shoved over into the other rather than be centered.
For me skins are all about giving myself something nice to look at while I'm browsing. |
