I can see how you might think that...if you viewed it as a conventional feature film. If, on the other hand, you viewed it as a short but sweet technology showcase and filled in some gaps for yourself, it was a pretty good film. Not perfect by any means but certainly worth a look.
Very. At least it is if you like monsters, black comedy and a bit of satire in equal measure. |

They continued Blood: The Last Vampire in other forms. Novels and Manga. Videogames too, but I don't think they're released in the U.S.
I like the animated movie. They didn't explain a lot, but it was still a well-paced action movie with good acting and a great female character. I became a fan of Blood after reading the novel (which explains a hell of a lot of things that the OVA doesn't). I'm going to read the graphic novel next (which I hear explains more). I'm looking forward to the live-action. I still find it odd that Production I.G. didn't just continue Blood after getting more money. Oh well. |

Like Moomintroll and I previously also said, you should try and view it from another perspective. I took it as a "brief glimpse into Saya's life". Pretty much similar to what the school nurse in the story saw. We didn't know much more than her. And as others mentioned, there were also other media formats accompanying it. Anyway, sometimes it's just fun to be entertained and see cool animation. Not everything we watch has to always be "classic perfection" to be enjoyed and good. And I'll say it again. OAV Saya ranks right up there for me with Nausicca on my list of "awesome and gutsy anime heriones".

That's how the novel was. It was in the perspective of the high school boy who was trying to figure out what the hell he saw that night he witnessed Saya killing a monster. Except that he learned a HELL of a lot more than the nurse did. |

I have to agree with Josh7289- this movie was terrible. Its fine for movies to make you think. It's fine for you to have to speculate some. but when you have to fill in the gaps left out of the story then its just bad.
Maybe if I had the manga to read before hand or a novel or something I could have found it bearable. But hey- to each his own. |

But the only gap was the backstory and the premise was simple enough that even with no set-up and very little exposition, it all made perfect sense on its own terms. It's not as though it were a confusing film. The lack of background certainly deprived it of depth but, as Hollywood reminds us on a regular basis, depth is not a prerequisite of an action movie.
Did I just inspire somebody to watch Gwoemul? My work here is done. I wonder which forum I should bring enlightenment to next... |

Anyway, I enjoyed the movie, Not too sure about the live action, but I guess I would prefer this over a US created version. |

its probably just gonna be in independent theaters, so anyone not living close to a major city is gonna be screwed.
