I wonder that if it will be a sequel that will acknowledge the elephants in the living room that are Gundam F91 and Victory Gundam and how Unicorn's attempts to give the Universal Century a happy ending was all for naught?

Right after Gundam Unicorn Twilight Axis occurs so war and conflicts would go on and on regardless IMHO.

Actually, not a whole lot happens between Twilight Axis and F91, which are set 25 years apart. Yeah, wars go on, but following the events of Unicorn and Twilight Axis, there aren't any major conflicts for a long period of time, unlike the time between 0079 and Unicorn which sees at least 5 major conflicts in the span of 17 years.

25 years isn't that long a time period and it still undermines Unicorn's message of hope regardless.

Looking at the real world I don't think the new information found in Laplace's Box discovered in Unicorn is enough to create everlasting peace. We find truths and discover unknown things all the time regarding the contributions to society different races and ethnicities have made. Science debunks things that are in the Bible constantly. But it doesn't stop people from being racist, ignorant or believing what they want to believe. Which are all things that lead to war.

Was Unicorn that popular they wanted to make a 1:1 size statue of it? I like the series, but i didn't think it was that popular!

In terms of model kit sales, it's one of the most popular Gundam series in years.

Unicorn's hope was never a retcon or went against the grain. If anything, there was a good amount of careful (if not quietly ominous, if you're familiar with UC's timeline) foreshadowing about the decades to come and was not so pie-in-the-sky with it. The events of Unicorn also provided a decent explanation of why, after years of major warfare, upheavals, and catastrophes, there was a gap of apparent peace and why the influences of the Federation and Anaheim Electronics had waned as much as they did by the time F91 rolls along.
The mix of hope, in spite of it all, and foreshadowing was one of my favorite things about Unicorn. it's not the easiest or most heartwarming thing to have to digest, but it was the most realistic and true outlook given everything. It also felt indicative of Gundam (at the very least, UC) as a whole, with an undercurrent of hope, while not continuously present, running underneath all of the death and chaos (likely at its most pronounced in Victory and its ending).
