Get over it guys. It's just a logo. She's not naked, it's not porn, the news and all that good stuff is still here.
It's human anatomy. Half of the people on this site (in theory) should see much more than that in the shower every day. And I'm betting that most of the ones who don't realize that it's there, too. I'm sitting here in a conservative midwestern school browsing the site, and nobody cares in the least. And as a matter of couse, I think Ms. Korneev's drawing is very pretty. |

Well as I said, the cleavage doesn't bother me, and the choice was a matter for those who run the site. I do think the banner is good and it does have a lot of energy going on. I'm glad you clarify that it's not just for the skin. I'm glad you guys liked my banner. It didn't matter to me if I won or not, it was fun to do. I only did the art over a period of two days... I think I may have done the whole thing, from concept to finish, in about three hours, which is like a world record for me. I wanted to add some more stuff to it, and do an SD banner, but time vexed me. It was partly my fault though... I intended to enter the contest all along, but for some reason I thought the deadline was Dec. 17 (doh!)!! |

But this is a NEWS site. If I wanted to look at skin, I'd go to a site for that. It would be like CNN suddenly putting on female reporters in bikinis. |

The drawing is pretty, and as Tempest stated in another forum, he's going to have an option for "cleavage off" for the at-work surfers. Cleavage or not, I think the drawing captures the essence of fun. Yeah yeah, I know a couple of posts back I was saying that I liked another one (I still like it), but the more I look at this drawing, the more I realize why it was chosen.

Have you seen CNN lately? I wouldn't mind seeing some of their female anchors in bikinis. Meeeeow! Err, I digress... In any case, the banner is fine. I'm viewing this at work and have no problems (then again, I have my own office and my screen is facing away from the door ). Are you finally caving in to the old addage of "sex sells", Tempest? |

I'm definately gonna need that cookie....my coworkers don't even approve of my Asuka & Rei Xmas figures, cause they're showing a little leg. "What'chya got on your desk there, 'Debbie Does Xmas' decorations?"
Puritans. |

Hey, sorry I started a seperate thread about this topic-I would have just done my whining here if I'd been paying attention. Anyway, I don't mind naked lady pictures in principle, but yeah, surfing from work.

I think it's artistically very good & my congratulations to the winner. Although, like others I do read ANN at work & my monitor faces the front counter (and cannot be moved) so I just try to read quickly at lunchtime. My co-workers & customers aren't exactly anime connisseurs Heck, they wonder about my Card Captor Sakura wallpaper..... silly people.

The cleavage isn't even all that; well, cleavagy. Why would this bother anyone, anyway? Really, its such a benign picture; i can just see the puritan sweat dripping off peoples forheads.
Anime is an artform. Anyone who has studied or appreciates art AT ALL knows that many if not most of the classical roman and grecian examples of art feature, SURPRISE, nudity. Santa-anime-girl is not EVEN nude, and imho her pose in and of itself is not provocative. Her breasts aren't even mega-large like most anime depictions you'd get, and they are NOT the focus of the picture. This site isn't just NEWS, its ANIME NEWS (and a little bit of "network" thrown in). If you are here, you want to know about anime; and if you want to know about anime, chances are about 99.9% that you've seen some anime girl doing infinitely worse than this one. As far as this being a news site and that somehow changing the freedom its keepers have to express themselves or do what they please, I call attention to Playboy. Issues of playboy from the 70's and 80's have some of the best political commentary of their time; many of the comments made in the magazine are considered extremely reputable. Early magazines from the 50's and 60's feature much anti-segregation material. By the way the holiday logo is 600 times improved from the previous one; the blue stroke on the ANN logo and the green on the "wishes" look great, and the picture blends into the blue of the page much cleaner. The tree and her hair looks great, too; kudos to the artist. |

Ah, cleavage talk. THe pic is alright I guess. My dear Kiro was in the process of making a picture, but he couldn't finish it in time. Damn holiday shopping and such!
http://cloud.prohosting.com/purunyon/test/data/IMG_000056.jpg For some reason, I can't get the linking to work. So just copy and paste that into your browser window, and hopefully it will work.... I think it's the best one hands down, and I'm not being biased I'm sure some of you will be glad to see there isn't any cleavage. I wish he could have finished it |

I completely agree that the banner chosen is filthy and disgusting. It's definitely lewd and makes me ashamed to call myself an anime, no, an art fan. You know what REALLY makes my blood boil? Michaelangelo's David. How DARE they put such an obscene sculpture in a PUBLIC place and call it art? Why, the last thing I want is to look up and see his genitals hanging in my face. *gasp* Don't even get me started on the rest of Hellenic Greecian art, or heaven forbid, Renaissance art. Nudity is BAD, folks. I don't care if they're talking about mythical people, "forest nymphs," or Santa Claus. That kind of thing just should not be allowed in society.
It's a shame there's no solution to hiding that disgustingly trashy picture on this once respected news site. I only wish it was possible that, when the page loads, all you have to do is move the page down a mere two inches, making the banner completely obscured and leave all the news STILL there in its entirety, allowing for easy browsing. Hell, it'd be amazing if you could even tell the links to open in a different window so you don't have to stare at that disgusting creature peering down at you with her jolly filth. Tempest! I'm ashamed of you! I'm ashamed to call you my editor and former peer! You disgust me! Calling this art! BAH! You're no better than those perverts who gawk up at the Sistine Chapel at that dung that infests the ceiling and walls. You make me sick. |

*rolls her eyes*
I guess you just can't accept that some of us just don't want to look at breasts. |

Everybody can get off their high horses. I personally have tons of nude art and nude non-art filling my apartment. But I don't take it to work. This v-chip style cookie is a fine solution as far as I'm concerned.

Sounds almost like some kind of Freudian slip. It should be removed from your presence because you don't want to look at her chest. Hmmm... Just kidding, of course. Seriously though. Don't you ever... I mean, you're a girl right? Haven't you ever gotten undressed for a shower and even just caught a glimpse of yourself in a mirror? Unless you're like... 12... you've got no less than she's got. And your assets are always in your presence. I hope your not offended by that. >_> Or think of it this way: You girls are always telling us guys "I'm up here!" when our eyes go a'wanderin, right? Just pretend that the news is saying "I'm down here!" Not only will you get what you can to the site for, you'll also get a taste of gender equality at its finest. Kudos to Gai and Sakechan. Funny, funny stuff you guys. |

Jeez, why is that is that both of the topics I started lately turn so heated. ^^;;;;; I like the banner for the art work, not for the cleveage.
