Bush was the type of US President who'd rather lead than read. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C9f1TYyvEx8 |

NATO? NATO is a defense treaty. And of North Atlantic countries.
The Japanese are even more apathetic to politics than Western otaku. They don't watch the news. They're too busy watching their shows or reading manga instead of the newspaper. |

Whenever a Japanese law about this is proposed, western otaku panic but its always a mountain out of a molehill. I doubt schoolgirl's panties are going to be banned.
Depictions of bestiality are already illegal so the Japanese make anime smut about 'dog demons' to get around the law anyway. As for age of consent laws... when I was 18, my then boyfriend was 14, and awesome. Those laws just aren't fair. Teens are young adults, not children (of course real 3D child pornography is bad though). |

So it's all NATO's fault now? Really
As usual no location identified. NATO is not an international law making entity. It is a political - military Treaty based Alliance which by its very definition can not include Japan. Now if you had stated UN or EU, there might be some agreement, nothing good comes out of most UN resolutions and there's certainly nothing good coming out anything the EU gets its hands on. |

Ugh. Brain fart. UN, not NATO.
Sorry about that. Now, please untwist your panties and continue on with the discussion. |

Just FTR, no, I don't live in the US, I don't even know what the patriot act is and I wasn't even remotely referring to it |

First off, I'm all for banning child porn. For me, that includes depictions of any real-life person under the age of 18.
As for fictional ones, I'll be the first to say I'm not a fan of loli/shota at all, but I respect others' enthusiasm for it. Different strokes for different folks. What I don't get, is why the heck hasn't Japan implemented some kind of rating system for this stuff? I mean, if the intent is to abolish child porn while protecting certain consumers from topics others might deem inappropriate, why not just slap an "AO" Adults Only tag on it? Or any other equivalent for "E", "T", "OT", or "M"? Isn't that a smarter way to regulate content? Or am I somehow missing the point of this bill entirely? |

The industry is already self-regulating itself. And VNs and Hentai distributed already have laws to abide by. Retailers don't allow "minors" to access the said content easily. Its already good as it is. Actually, I wish there was some sort of amendment that just leaves the whole industry alone. That' way, none of those lousy politicians mettle with them. Now if you're talking about "minors" accessing adult content online, than that should be up to the parent's responsibility to tackle, not the government's. If parent's aren't gonna bother checking up on their kids, than they are at fault, not the adults who consume and produce such said products. |

there are certain places and events (If the establishments pay enough money and fit the terms) that you can dance.....however most clubs here in tokyo have limited floor space due to high priced land costs......
So if Above & Beyond or Armin Van Buuren were to preform in Japan, they wouldn't be welcomed?[/quote] |

The PATRIOT Act of 2001 was created in response to the terrorist attacks on 9/11. It created "Big Brother" laws on the American population. Whoever is identified as a terrorist or labeled as an extreme threat in the United States are send to prison in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. |
