Manga Entertainment needs to put Gunbuster on DVD. It is a classic anime, and doesn't need to be in limbo only on VHS and not listed on their website.

A lot of the scenes in that show seem to try to create rather unfeasable excuses to show Noriko's breasts.

So. It is a classic OVA series... one that first introduces the typical female movement you see now, and very fluid animation that very rarely occurs nowadays.

I fully agree: Gunbuster's a great anime and deserve a correctly translated and uncensored DVD edition IMO, all the more as I don't stop hearing people who complain about the fact that it is not available in R1 format

What do you want to bet they may be waiting to release it with Gunbuster 2, whomever may actually get it

IF Manga Entertainment were to pick up the Gunbuster 2 license, that would make sense, but why would they wait to do that if some other company picked up the license?

--EDIT--
I should mention that looking at the encyclopedia page for Gunbuster, that Japan released the R2 DVD back in August as 2004-08-27 (Japan - Gunbuster Perfect Guide DVD), so that possibly might mean sometime in the next year or so Manga will be releasing their DVD version.

Why did MGM release an SE of the Manchurian Canidate to tie in with the remake that was made by Paramount? Tie-ins=more sales as a general rule.

I don't know... I was unaware of the fact that they did that.

Manga's response to my e-mail about Gunbuster:

We have no plans at the present to release Gunbuster on DVD.

Is there any intent on putting the original Gunbuster (also known as "Aim
for the Top! Gunbuster") on DVD? After all you do own the license to it

That's a standard response. It translates to "While we may have plans and/or a desire to put Gunbuster on DVD, it's nothing that we're prepared to talk about at this time"

Last year, at the San Diego Comic Con, I went to the Manga Entertainment booth and asked both Marvin Gleicher and Keith Burgess the same question. They replied, "We're working on it."

I heard they say the same thing since a 'long' time...

Maybe an online petition could help them take their decision? ^^

Online petitions are almost totally worthless. 1 email is worth 100 signatures. One physical petition signature is worth 1000 online signatures, a phone call is worth 3000 and a physical snail mail letter 5000
