Why do I have this really persistent feeling that karate girl will be annoying as fudge?

I liked the first episode (as slow as it was), and it certainly feels like a quality series. I particularly like how the side characters felt realistic, especially the vice-principal. Which is weird, as I don't usually appreciate things like these.

I'm looking forward to the other members. The two of them definitely can't hold this show together. Give it another episode with so much of this girl and I'll want to kick her in the face. Gotta be the lack of nicotine in my life.

Episode 2

I think I will address some people comparison to Steins;Gate, personally I happy that it feels different as I got sick of Steins;Gate, but I am enjoying this. I like Aki, and the addition of spoiler[an illness] with her determined attitude feels to me like some depth that is fun. I guess she does kind of feel like a full drown Popura.

I like Aki too, she manages to be energetic and enthusiastic without coming off as completely overbearing or oppressive. I can see how she can be annoying to some, but I don't think she's so bad.

Kai, on the other hand, is starting to get a little annoying for me.

Working on a small robot for the tournament.
Getting parts for it was a pain.
Doc was a hard nut to crack..
Kai just plays that game all the time.
Wonder how much he'll contribute in the tournament.

I would have agreed with you about Kai, but I felt like the second ep added more to his character than just "I'm going to sit and play a game all day."

you know the controller of the mini bot will be made KB style and he'll cream the competition as the user during the tournament.

I found episode 2 fleshed out both characters in a very positive way.

I think this episode gives fairly positive proof that his "I dont care about anything but KB" attitude is at least partially an affectation. He clearly views himself as something of a guardian to Aki and is willing to go above and beyond the call of duty in order to help her out - he just doesn't want her to know about it, hence his indifferent act. WHY he doesn't want her to know about it is a different issue, and I hope they have a compelling reason beyond just 'it would be embarassing' because that is the least satisfying and most cliche anim answer to why a character would hide their feelings.

Aki's illness also confused me a bit. What, exactly, does 'she experiences five minutes of time in one second' mean? And why does it make her collapse for what appears to be several minutes? If she were experiencing five minutes of time in one second, wouldn't the attack be over in one second? Or would she move/think at super speed? That description of it seems inconsistent with what we were shown, which was her basically collapsing and being unconscious or nearly so for several minutes. I hope they give us a clearer explanation of this.

I heard it the other way, as in, her brain slows down incredibly, and so five minutes of time would register as one second in her brain (so everything seems like it's happening incredibly quickly, like the clouds moving). So her several minute episode would be a second to her. But maybe someone with more knowledge can fill us in.

I was wondering about this myself. Also, I have to admit that I rolled my eyes a liitle when it was revealed she had an illness. Despite that, the nature of it has me intrigued.

I would guess it would be connected with her perception of time, from looking at it it seems she gets very tired, and then in the midst of the attack it looks/feels like the world is going very fast. Probably feels very scary for her, in some extent her brain may percieve the actual time passed, but not other parts.

I think I remember hearing of certain syndrome which may have had a similar name, something that when attacks come on makes it hard to judge the size of things, like the brain gets messed up and could think a mouse is the size of an elephant.

This anime bounces a lot between outright boring and interesting. I have yet to decide what I want with it, but at least unlike others, I haven't found anything annoying about it yet. Most characters have yet to enter the game, and like I said in my previous post, these two alone won't be able to keep the show interesting.

I must say that I'm really bored of this overused drama. Some person died, now everyone is sad. Or person has a rare condition that's hardly that bad, yet it's like she'll die within a couple of months. I want an illness like that too, to experience 5 minutes within a second.

It would certainly make a lot more sense if it was that Aki perceives 5 minutes of real time as one second, so to her the world around her suddenly seems to leap forward while to us she basically goes comatose for 5 minutes. That fits much more with the behavior she exhibited. However, if that is the case they did a poor job of explaining it.

I wonder if Aki's condition is due to (Steins;Gate spoiler) spoiler[the shift of the timelines towards the Steins;Gate at the end of that series.] Robotics;Notes does take place in the same universe so I'd imagine there will be some repercussions.

I remembering reading that Robotics;Notes is a more slife-of-life (and "realistic") approach on the mecha genre. I can see why people maybe be bored by how the show is progressing but it's alright for me so far. It's not too exciting but entertaining and intriguing enough for me to watch each week. I am really reminded of Steins;Gate when I watched the latest episode; it felt as if it was foreshadowing something ominous. MC dude (I can't remember his name) speaks of an event that happened about a decade ago and the scene with Aki during that gave me a somewhat uneasy feeling. But yeah, so far the show is easy going and with it being 22 episodes, I don't think much will happen until more characters are involved.
