I can't comment on neither hellsing nor king of thorns, but I can for deadman.

I pretty much agree with the rating, I wasn't really interested in the show when I first heard of it, but since I heard it was adult swim, I was basicly like, "well, guess I'll give it a shot now." It is a fun show to watch on the weekends what not with the crazy violence and censor swearing, and I didn't really have that much of a problem with ganta until the dude when the blades showed up and he pussed out. What really got me pissed was that he was SOO sure, SOOready to kill the redman who put him in, yet when it came down to crunch time, what'd he do? WIMPER!! I did at least like how he ended his two fights in the arena, and I never saw the last episode since my family lost our cable that following sunday.

I'm considerably patient with the series, considering I know full well how successful anime series in general can adapt a manga (the only one doing a good job now is HxH, but if togashi dosn't get off his ass, that'll end. OP may not have many fillers especially now, but its pacing is ass, so I perfer the manga.) So it didn't nearly come off as a surprise to me none of the questions really got answered, I could see that from a mile away, so I decided to just enjoy it at face value until I can get to manga, which I'll touch bases on someday.

DW was quite interesting. I believe I may need to get the manga. It ended way too abruptly. I was really getting into it when it aired.

King of Thorn as a movie sounds like they didn't properly adapt the manga. Did they leave out some details?

Also, Trinity Blood, Samurai Deeper Kyo, and Nightwalker: the Midnight Detective, probably also include Soul Eater.

I was so excited to hear about the King of Thorn movie. I have the manga and enjoyed it quite a bit so I'm disappointed to hear the movie diverged from it and apparently did a poor job in general.

Man, mine may not have been that unorganized, but I kinda wish I had taken a photo my mess before I had to box everything up and then put my anime and manga collection back into my room after some work had been done to it. I definitely ran out of shelf space for everything.

I really enjoyed Deadman Wonderland. It did feel somewhat compressed, so I get the feeling the manga is better. Too bad it was licensed by Tokyopop! Sad @ thatguy sorry you missed the rest of the anime but Ganta does become more of a badass at the end.

Blood weapons - Speed Grapher

I'll probably skip the Hellsing Ultimate set; I already own the first four volumes. I'm more interested in getting the rest of the series.

* sorry about the excessive bolding, don't know what went wrong there. But fixed now.

@Thatguy3331 If you'd like, you can watch the last episode on either Hulu or here on ANN(assuming you live in the US).

I really enjoyed the first half of Deadman Wonderland. And then the pacing fell apart, a whole bunch of new characters were introduced all at once, and it became clear even to someone who hadn't read the manga that they were mushing a whole bunch of stuff together from the source material. It made me sad, given how strong it started.

I will say though that I probably wouldn't want to watch the unedited version. Things were hard enough to watch with the original TV censoring Anime dazed

I might revise my opinion of King of Thorn when my copy arrives, but when I saw it I didn't find it confusing of gibberish. Sure, it was a bit convoluted, but pleasantly so. I certainly found it able to be followed (being in a cinema might have helped).
In retrospect, a lot of the elements were pretty clichéd and a couple nonsensical. I still found the film highly enjoyable, though. And it triumphs over the manga in the art department, at any rate.
Basically, while I enjoyed the film more than Bamboo, I have to actually disagree with the fourth paragraph. It was a bit rushed, and that indeed owes itself to adapting most of the manga's material into one film, but I found it a far cry from "pure gibberish".

And Inuyasha, which I imagine is worth forgetting. (Not that he ever accomplished anything with that attack, anyway.)

spoiler[And, technically, almost every anime from that genre that Bamboo isn't reviewing anymore. heh.]

I dunno about secret weapons. Concealed weapons, maybe.

Although I agree that King of Thorn was all over the place as far as its plot, I am going to go out on a limb here and say I actually enjoyed the movie overall. I certainly won't argue that it was any kind of masterpiece, but it is certainly not a movie that I will forget any time soon. Maybe it is due to the fact that I just like survival horror type shows. King of Thorn reminded me a LOT of Dead Space, although granted Dead Space was a lot better and the plot made a lot more sense. However, both films started off with a very gripping/exciting premise which quickly unraveled into grisly blood-spatters, dismemberments, and absolute chaos all around the poor protagonists. Maybe its something about seeing these normal, every day people descend into the pits of hell and try to hold onto their sanity while witnessing the horrors. It is chilling to think about what you would do if you had to try and survive in such an environment without going insane. So, maybe it was just the atmosphere and overall vibe of King of Thorn that sufficiently entertained me. Sure, I rolled my eyes at a lot of the silliness but the movie was still effective at creating plenty of mystery and tension through out.

Sooo glad to finally have Hellsing back, and to have it on BD is fantastic! Can't wait for the next set to hear the dub continue into the epicness of the next set of episodes we haven't heard them in yet Smile

Maybe I'm alone in this, but I enjoyed the hell out of Deadman Wonderland. Sure, the plot was fairly cliche, and there were a whole bunch of characters who really could have used a hell of a lot more development, and the ending was one of those infuriating "Welp, guess you'll have to read the manga!" moments...but all of that aside, it was a roller-coaster ride of brutal, gory fun. There were some ridiculous combat moments, especially in the arena combat. And the dialogue...my God, it was hilarious. That whole spiel by spoiler[Yo's sister when Ganta is fighting her?] I was dying. Seriously, I think this is easily one of FUNi's greatest dubs ever. I also thought it was fascinating watching Ganta be thrown into this insane environment and cope with the realities of basic survival in it.

I mean, I'm definitely not a fan of torture porn in general, but this show? I ate it up.

Totally agree, watching this on Toonami/AS was great.

I'm with you, the dub made it a really awesome watch spoiler[(yeah, that battle with Yo's sister was great lol)], I picked up the set thanks to that broadcast, now I wish someone would rescue the manga, as echoed by others, as I'd like to know what was supposed to happen next and get more details.

All this negative talk of King of Thorn has got me interested in it; I'll take too many ideas over too few like Tales from the Earthsea. Now there was a misplaced dragon...

Hellsing. For all its faults, I still like the TV series over the OVA muck. Maybe it gets better, maybe it feels less like a "hey, remember this bit? Now enjoy it condensed with less symbology!" and "Hey! Who doesn't hate Nazis? How about vampire Nazis?! Really from World War II so they're really real fake nazis so you can hate them all the more!" series.

But I only saw the first four so maybe it gets less... more...

No it won't. I want more depth and less visual excessiveness so the characters will come out and that just can't happen in 45-50 minute unrelated chunks. It's a series of cyphers; Not Dracula and not Van Hellsing fight against a not Paladin, not vampires and not Nazis. What's not to like?

It only makes sense when you take out all the "nots".

Regardless, the Hellsing TV opener which is 100 times more entertaining than anything that could follow.

Deadman Wonderland? I've never seen it but even I can tell from here that it has more story than can fit in 12, 13 episodes.

I wonder what I'll think of the rest of Deadman Wonderland. I watched the first three episodes, liked those and pre-ordered the series the moment that it was available, but I'm a bit worried now.

Never seen Hellsing Ultimate and I honestly don't know why I never watched it, because I love Hellsing Confused
