I sure don't want to play games unless it's a dating sim on VR, I also wouldn't mind the next Idolm@ster having VR capability, but outside of that and porn, I'll pass. |
It's like the same problem with Google Glass:
Despite all the "promise of wearable technology" that keeps getting thrown about in sales copy, apart from privately abused porn applications by the users, no one at Google even seems to know what the Glasses are for--
Even their own ads are too busy selling it as just a lighter first-person GoPro camera, which is all it ever seems to be used for.
You don't put a technology out and then let us guess what it'll be for, that was what killed BD-Live.

Can't wait to see Miku perform in this thing. |
That's already been around.
And there's also race driving where you're actually in the vehicle, and looking around, ya could see the other vehicles around ya and in your mirrors.

Of course, the mods delete and ban everyone else but him, so he must be an important industry leader!

sure. If I don't buy into the hype I guess I'm a troll eh? sounded like a typical response of punk type fanboys
do you have to be a suck up to everything they post/ release? so $600 is a pretty good price eh? PS3 did well with its $600 price tag right?
i'm sure i'm not the only one not buying into this VR stuff..
oh? ban a person because they have a different opinion than you? you always live in denial troll?
at least now i know who's the snitch is.. well... at least don't resort to cyber stalking me please ..
sure.. a punk can jump at me with post like this because he didn't like my opinion... then report my return post (like this one) as offensive to his babysitters
you will just make what i said true by deleting the post anyway.. go ahead and continue to live in denial and i still don't buy into this VR stuff
you do realize that is is a $600 accessory right?
like i said.. wait until the health related complaints start to flood in with this VR thing
it's not just about releasing some expensive tech but also safe for consumers
you noticed the warning sign before each 3D game?..
crash and burn-- that is still my opinion about VR.

I think it's interesting from a business perspective that the much-less talked about Sony and HTC headsets are expected to release shortly within months after the Oculus Rift; I'm sure that's no coincidence.
I'm sure the headsets will sell fine. Maybe not amazing, but they're cool, useful pieces of technology. I'm sure more than a few organizations will experiment with them as an educational tool. Sure they're a bit gimmicky, but they're less so than the Wii, and that did really well for Nintendo to put it mildly.

Last I checked, Facebook didn't have a need for the kind of hardware Occulus uses. Just having buying power only gets you so far; having established relationships and actually using them for other purposes as well(like Sony does) goes a lot further.
