As can be seen by my choice of avatar, I unironically love this show and most of it's recurring cast. Even the dub's on point. My love for it was reinforced and solidified whith that amazing finale. It's defnitiely not a show many'll enjoy or think is good. But for me, it was great.

I agree that Ninja Slayer's joke grows stale by episode 4 or 5 and never really tries to push the boundaries, but what actually made me drop the show was its insistence of sexually assaulting or otherwise threatening to rape the hacker girl. It was entirely pointless and gratuitous, served no purpose for her character, just to put her in humiliating "sexy" positions for the camera and it came to a point that i couldn't stand watching it anymore, found it too gross

I enjoyed some of the standalone movie homages in Ninja Slayer, but its main "story" got extremely tedious. When watching it, I found myself thinking of, assuming this means anything to anyone, Italian Spiderman - in the sense that the people who made that also made a TV series which was basically the same thing stretched out over several hours instead of forty minutes; which is what Ninja Slayer is in relation to Inferno Cop. Making it 24 episodes long was an idea so dumb I can only assume it was at Kadokawa's insistence. The books were also utter trash.

I wouldn't compare it to Aqua Teen Hunger Force, besides the international bad animation. This show takes one joke, which they proceed to just beat you over the head with it. It works for like an episode or 2. Over 24 episodes,it is just torture to get through, especially whenever tires to do something story-wise.

If nothing else, Aqua Teen was constantly trying to do new things with its settings and gags.

Honestly I freaking loved Ninja Slayer. Guess it's just my type of humor. My friends and I are still shouting YEEART and GWAAAARGH randomly during conversations.

Honestly, I want more Ninja Slayer. Great fun.

Overall, I enjoyed Ninja Slayer. Although, I will agree that the series would benefit from being half the length.

I enjoyed the hell out of Ninja Slayer.

However I did not enjoy the marketing done for Ninja Slayer heading into the show's debut. The PVs only featured the fully animated bits of the show, and while I get why they decided to run with that(because they honestly couldn't market the cardboard cutout animation), it gave everyone false expectations because people were hoping for a fully animated show. Which made a lot of people's hate for the show even worse.

Demo-senpai tells it like it is. Hopefully his video hiatus won't be as long as it took for Guts to get off the boat.

Ninja Slayer is the anime art form at its purest. Near static frames of people talking interrupted by brief moments of actual animation. Normally productions attempt to hide this limited animation formula, to varying degrees of success, but Ninja Slayer gives it to you straight. A bastion of honesty in an industry dedicated to creating illusions.

That being said, Inferno Cop is better.

I would've recommended the hell out of Ninja Slayer if it's a 3 episode-OVA. YEAART.

As it is though, it tries to have a cake and eat it too, trying to both be a joke and have an actual narrative.

I also feel the same about the manga version. I enjoyed the hell out of the 2-3 volumes, but after that it becomes too grating as the border between joke-y and honest ultraviolence blurred.

YEEART!!

Let's be clear from the start: I'm very much aware of Ninja Slayer's shortcomings in terms of animation and narrative. You'd have to be blind not to notice.

But for me, something about this show just clicked. I got it on some "so bad it's good", train wreck sort of level, and it certainly helped that I watched only 3-4 episodes at a time. I admit it--I found myself laughing out loud throughout the entire run, starting from the moment I noticed the 4:3 framing! Having said that, I don't think anyone could marathon this show and escape with their sanity, but I could be wrong...

Also...if someone produced a 26-episode side story focusing on Koki Yamoto, I'd be so in! Cool

Last thought--if anyone's out there listening (Funi? Sentai?), please license Inferno Cop for DVD/Blu release!

In episode 19, Ninja asks if Nancy has betrayed him (around 11:10). Toshiyuki's Ninja said "No, she wouldn't betray me in any way". Chris', which I see as a better version for that moment, said "there's no way she'd ever give me up, never let me down, or hurt me."
