Chi's Sweet Home Manga to End in 12th Volume

Final volume of Kanata Konami's cat series to bundle Chi clock in June

The Kodansha Comic Plus website revealed that Kanata Konami's Chi's Sweet Home manga will end in the 12th volume slated to ship on June 23. The limited-edition volume will cost 3,800 yen (about US$32) and bundle an alarm clock that features the same voice of Chi heard in the anime adaptation.

Kodansha's Weekly Morning magazine announced earlier this month that the manga would appear in the magazine for ten consecutive weeks, starting with this year's 19th issue on April 9. The series returned from a nine-month hiatus in the same issue.

The magazine had announced last July that the weekly manga would go on hiatus until this spring. It had explained that Konami was conducting research for the manga.

Chi's Sweet Home centers around a kitten who gets lost after walking out into the real world for the first time. A boy named Yōhei Yamada discovers her, but the Yamada family's apartment building prohibits pets. After failing to find a new home, the Yamadas decide to defy the rules and raise Chi themselves. Most of Chi's coming-of-age stories revolve around the Yamadas or the cats, dogs, and the occasional rabbit that live in the neighborhood.

Vertical licensed Chi's Sweet Home in 2009, and the company will release the 12th manga volume on August 18.

The manga inspired two television anime series in 2008 and 2009. Crunchyroll streamed the second television anime series Chi's New Address in various countries as it aired in Japan.
