Personally, I enjoyed it quite a bit. Definitely enough to say it's worth seeing.

I think the issue Dimension W ran into is that it's simply good. Which isn't good enough for most because of all the hype around it, being the show with funimation on the production committee that they started pushing last year at anime expo, having an initial vibe similar to shows that have become classics in the hearts of most, like Cowboy Bebop, Ghost in the shell, ect. Not to mention it making it onto Toonami only a few weeks after it started airing in Japan.
I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little disappointed myself that it didn't turn out to be amazing, as it was my most anticipated winter show.

Even so, it was a fun ride that I don't regret. Just don't expect it to blow your mind.

Thanks I'll keep that in mind if I ever decide to watch it. Wink

The problem was that a lot of people decided before it came out that it was going to be the best thing ever, based on that Funimation was part of the Production Committee. So when the show had a slow burn a lot of people were instantly turned off.

I'm guessing it didn't turn out well for Funamtion then that to bad, do think they learned anything form this event ?

You never know, Dimension W might still turn out profitable and therefore prove to be a worthwhile investment.

The show wasn't terrible, but parts of it definitely were. Awful villain, paper-thin lead, lacklustre action, no chemistry or bond between the two main characters, poorly-realised scientific concepts, cliched backstories. And really, a lack of spark or energy (pun intentional).

The most creative Dimension W got was the OP and the cool-looking cars; that's pretty much it. Being so by-the-numbers, the only way it was going to succeed was if the execution was good, and it just wasn't. Not even close.

Overall I would classify Dimension W as a decidedly weak entry in its particular sub-genre (of older gentlemen taking in young robot girls). I always thought Solty Rei was kinda meh but I now have a new-found appreciation for it after seeing all the ways this show stuffed up.

Idk about what would make it profitable for Funi (TV ratings?), but the first BD/DVDs were just released this week and they didn't even rank in the top 30s, so it sold less than 2K combined. It wasn't any more popular in Japan

toonami. it's maintaining over a million viewers every sat night. of course not all of them are going to buy it, but shows that do air on toonami sell more

I was hoping for Mabuchi to have a dance off in one of the episodes. Maybe it'll be in the OVA! Laughing

I found the show enjoyable enough. The final story arc was alright, but cliched. I'd say it is a show I don't regret taking the time to watch, but also one that I probably wouldn't recommend if someone came up to me and wanted me to list anime for them to watch.

I didn't have any expectations of the show before watching it; the first couple of episodes seemed good so I started having hopes it might be a good show, but then it just grew increasingly painful to watch. By the last episode I was relieved it was over, and a little disappointed that they wasted the potential. It wasn't a super duper bad show, but it was just meh and didn't have much going for it. Kind of reminded me of Guilty Crown only without the nice art, cool music and great animation.

I'm interested in what this OVA will be about, but in a mildly bemused way rather than in a "I love this show and want more!" way.

I enjoyed the show, its not for everyone. I think ending could been done better.

Fan service wasn't that high on this one, so hopefully this one-off episode will do the same.

I'm actually surprised that there is a singlar episode, most of the Dimension W episodes were branching off second episode.
