I just... Wow... This hits so hard. Especially with Takahashi's passing earlier this year.
It's almost too much to believe.

Yes, this is very sad news indeed. It seems we have lost many of the greats in anime and manga since 2019.

This is a tremendous loss. I had the chance to see him perform live twice in Los Angeles. I met him properly during the Beauty tour. He was my favorite composer hands down in the 80s and 90s. The loss to the international arts and music community is profound.

What a loss. Sakamoto's OST for Wings of Honneamise is one of my all-time favorite Anime OST and I enjoyed some of his movie soundtracks such as Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence and songs from his Beauty album.

R.I.P.

Royal Space Force: The Wings of Honnêamise is my favorite anime film and very personal to me. The soundtrack is part of what makes it so great. RIP.

I just saw this breaking news on my smartphone when I woke up this morning. Sakamoto is a very important musician/composer for not only anime, but also for feature films including Hollywood like the 2015 film, The Revenant.

He'll be indeed missed. RIP Ryuichi Sakamoto (1952-2023)

He also did the soundtrack to The Adventures of Chataran, a movie about a cat and his dog friend going on an adventure in the great big countryside. You may remember this movie by its Americanized edit, Milo & Otis. The original soundtrack is superb, and one of my absolute favorites.

Rest in peace, Sakamoto-san.

Very sad news. He will be missed. I really loved the soundtrack for Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence, and there was a period of time when everyone in my family was listening to The Last Emperor soundtrack. But my personal favorite was Little Buddha. What a talent! Rest in peace, maestro.

As far as I can tell he was still working up until the end.

Truly legendary.
