Love Live! Film Earns 1.9 Billion+ Yen in 38 Days

The website of the media trade paper Bunka Tsūshin is reporting on Thursday that Love Live! The School Idol Movie has grossed a box-office total of more than 1.9 billion yen (about US$15.3 million) after 38 days at the box office. The film premiered on June 13.

The film topped the Japanese box office for tickets sold for its first three weeks in theaters. As of its 23rd day in theaters on July 5, it had sold more than one million tickets to earn more than 1.4 billion yen (about US$11.4 million). As of 30 days since its opening, the film had earned 1.65 billion yen (about US$13.4 million).

The film will premiere in select cities in the United States on September 12. The film will also screen in Australia, New Zealand, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Vietnam, Brunei, and Indonesia.
