Love Live! The School Idol Movie ranked at #2 during the July 4-5 weekend — the film's fourth weekend at the Japanese box office — in terms of tickets sold. Avengers: Age of Ultron opened in Japan on July 4, and the film topped the box office for tickets sold. Love Live! The School Idol Movie has now sold more than 1 million tickets, and has earned more than 1.4 billion yen (about US$11.4 million).

The film had topped the Japanese box office for tickets sold for its first three weeks in theaters. The film then moved back up to first place in terms of earnings in its third weekend.

Love Live! The School Idol Movie sold 251,811 tickets in its first weekend, earning 400,235,800 yen (about US$3,240,900).

The film will premiere in select cities in the United States on September 12. The film will also screen in Australia, New Zealand, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Vietnam, Brunei, and Indonesia.
