Team Ninja Confirms Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 Won't Get Western Release

posted on by Karen Ressler

The Team Ninja community manager responded to an inquiry on the Dead or Alive Facebook page last week, confirming that the company does not, and will not, have plans to publish Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 in the West.

The response continued:

Do you know many issues happening in video game industry with regard to how to treat female in video game industry? We do not want to talk those things here. But certainly we have gone through in last year or two to come to our decision. Thank you.

Koei Tecmo Europe has also responded to the situation, saying "Kudos to the [Team Ninja's Community Manager] for being honest. But if you really want it, you can import EN ver."

When Koei Tecmo Games first announced the game in August, the company specified that the game would be exclusive to Japan and Asia. The Asian release will have an English-language option.

The game will ship for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita in Japan on February 25.

Tecmo released the Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball game on the Xbox in North America, Japan, and Europe in 2003. In the game, players play as one of the women from the Dead or Alive fighting game series and partake in volleyball matches as well as other beach-related minigames and shopping. Tecmo released a sequel, Dead or Alive Xtreme 2, on the Xbox 360 in North America, Japan, and Europe in 2006.
