Trivia:

Most of the residents of the dragon world have reptile-related names. including Salamandinay (from salamander), Doctor Gecko, Lamia (a legendary creature often represented with reptile features), Lizardia (from Lizard), and Naga (a serpent-like Buddhist deity). However, the series composition head Tatsuto Higuchi revealed that he named the character Kaname from the Japanese word "kame," or turtle, realizing he could turn it into a regular Japanese name by only adding one syllable.

According to the staff of the show, Ersha is the strongest of the cast physically, while Vivian is the strongest as a pilot.

Character designer Sayaka Ono designed the undergarments for all of the female characters to match what she believed fit their character traits.

Ersha was modeled after an Indian woman, and was intended to have dark skin in the initial planning phases.

Planning for the Cross Ange anime began in 2010. The plan was only brought to King Records in 2013 before finally airing in 2014.

In episode 13, the song the music box plays and the tune that Embryo hums when he contacts Ersha is Dvorak's Symphony No.9 Movement II: Largo better known as the "New World Symphony".

In episode 13, Toshihiko Seki's performance of "Towagatari" was originally just done in dialogue recording, and was only meant to be A Capella, and not an official insert song. However, after hearing Seki's singing, a representative of King Records brought the recording back to the company and composer Akiko Shikata, who composed a background track for the song.

In episode 14, the hotel that they stayed in was "Hotel Mulaflaga" was a reference to Mu La Flaga, a character from Gundam SEED and SEED Destiny.

When asked about Vivian's father during a fan meeting, series composition head Tatsuto Higuchi and other staff admitted they had never thought about his existence, and suggested that he might be alive, or not. Two months later, Vivian's father appeared in a still shot in episode 25's finale.

in episode 25, Aura was originally scheduled to appear beside Embryo in her human form. However, creative director Fukuda rejected the idea, saying it would go against the setting of the story.

In episode 25, the outfits that Ange and Salamandinay are wearing in the karaoke room represent their respective voice actresses. Ange's outfit is the same one Mizuki is wearing on the cover of her "Kindan no Resistance" theme song single, while Salamandinay's outfit is similar to the dresses that Horie is often seen wearing at events.
