Trivia:

Kanuka Clancy is named after best-selling espionage/counter-terrorism novelist Tom Clancy.

Through out series, you notice some "unusual" brand or name on a soda or an airline company even clothing (mostly jackets). It leads to the name of both of the creators and producers of Patlabor—SUNRISE & Headgear!

In episode 10 there is a plane named Lovely Angel, and shortly after that you can clearly see the Dirty Pair themselves standing on a sidewalk. ("The Lovely Angels" is the Dirty Pair's official code name.)

The basis of Shigeo's dream in episode 44, "CLAT Forever", seems to be from the popular Gerry Anderson hit Captain Scarlet. From the character/costume design, naming the patlabors collectively as 'angels' and even the use of the SPV as the support vehicle.

In episode 44, Cardinals Ximénez, Biggles, and Fang—from Monty Python's "The Spanish Inquisition" sketches—thrice walk across the screen.
