Trivia:
The first story in Ayakashi is an adaptation of the 1825 play 'Tôkaidô Yotsuya Kaidan,' written by Tsuruya Namboku IV. It's one of the most famous Japanese horror stories, and Oiwa is probably the most famous "yuurei" (vengeful ghost) in Japanese culture. Her story has been adapted many times on film - Sadako from 'Ring' is also based partly on her.
