Daily Video: Tile gambling videogame for Japanese PSPs to ship on March 31

On Wednesday, the Japanese media conglomerate Kadokawa updated its official website for Suzumiya Haruhi-chan no Mahjong (The Mahjong of Suzumiya Haruhi-chan), an upcoming videogame for the PSP console with the characters of The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi-chan playing the tile gambling game mahjong. The website update includes the opening sequence for the game, which can be seen here.

The game will ship in a regular edition for 6,279 yen (about US$76) and a DX (deluxe) pack for 9,429 yen (US$114) on March 31.

Nagaru Tanigawa created the original light novel series which began with The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya with illustrator Noizi Ito. Kyoto Animation produced a television anime series based on the novels which aired in 2006, along with a sequel season which aired in 2009. Illustrator Puyo created a spinoff manga titled The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi-chan, a gag comedy featuring super-deformed versions of the original series' characters. The Mahjong of Suzumiya Haruhi-chan uses Puyo's version of the character designs.
