Signed original art from I''s creator Katsura gets US$17,000+ bid

The charity auction for an original signed image of Zetman character Konoha Amagi drawn by creator Masakazu Katsura (I''s, Video Girl Ai) ended on Yahoo! Japan for 1,414,000 yen (about US$17,300) on Monday.

The auction was held from May 16 through May 23 and had 87 bids. The starting bid price for the item was 1 yen. Proceeds from the auction will help victims of the Great Eastern Japan Earthquake (Higashi Nihon Daishinsai) disaster.

Currently, the Association of Japanese Animations is also hosting an Anime Charity Auction event with items from various anime, including the Macross Frontier science-fiction series, at the Tokyo Anime Center in Tokyo's Akihabara district until May 31. Proceeds from that auction will go to the Japanese Red Cross.
