Toei to Expand Studio Theme Park to Include Anime

New anime museum to include displays on One Piece, Precure, Kamen Rider

Toei announced at a press conference on Tuesday that it is undergoing renovation to expand its Toei Kyoto Studio Park to include an anime museum. The renovated theme park will open on September 15.

The museum will introduce visitors to the history of Toei Animation. It will feature various interactive displays on One Piece, Precure, and Kamen Rider. The renovation is the biggest one the park has undergone since it opened in 1975, costing a total of 3 billion yen (about US$39 million).

In addition to the anime museum, the renovation will also include an ukioye (color prints from the Edo period) art gallery and a ninja residence.The company said it is hoping to create a place that tourists will want to visit often, and it aims to increase yearly attendance to the park from 700,000 to 1 million.
