CAPCOM to begin online content expansion with Card Heroes, Browser titles

The game publisher CAPCOM announced the Sengoku Basara Card Heroes mobile phone game and Browser Sengoku Basara web browser game on Wednesday.

CAPCOM is developing the Sengoku Basara Card Heroes card battle role-playing game with KLab. Familiar Sengoku Basara characters like Date Masamune and Sanada Yukimura will appear on cards that players will combine to complete various quests in the game. The game will be compatible with iOS and Android smartphones and some Japanese feature phones.

In the Browser Sengoku Basara simulation role-playing game, players will battle or cooperate with each other to gain territory and try to unify the country. The game is targeted at current Sengoku Basara game series fans as well as new users. People will be able to play Browser Sengoku Basara using the Internet Explorer or Firefox web browsers.

CAPCOM hopes to use these games and other mobile phone, online PC, and downloadable console titles to grow its sales of online content to 300 billion yen (about US$3.69 billion) by March 2015. CAPCOM will release Browser Sengoku Basara in June, and the company plans to announce a release date for Sengoku Basara Card Heroes soon.

The Sengoku Basara action video game series and franchise center on military figures and actual events from feudal Japan's Sengoku (Warring States) period (1467–1573). The original Sengoku Basara (Devil Kings) video game shipped for the PlayStation 2 console in 2005.
