Gendo joins JINS' Evangelion eyewear line; Tiger & Bunny glasses inspired by characters Wild Tiger, Barnaby

Japanese eyeglass-maker JINS has announced the newest addition to the Evangelion/JINS eyewear line, Gendo Ikari. The company has also recently revealed a crossover with the Tiger & Bunny franchise.

The EVA-99 Gendo model will retail for 4,990 yen (about US$63), and they will include a glasses case with the NERV logo inside and a glasses cleaning cloth also with the NERV logo. The other five Evangelion-themed prescription glasses available are inspired by Shinji, Rei, Asuka, Kaoru, and Mari. The Gendo glasses are currently available for pre-order, and will ship on November 15. JINS began releasing Evangelion-themed eyeglasses in August.

Bandai began taking pre-orders for the "Tiger & Bunny Crossover Eyewear" glasses last month on the Premium Bandai Store and Oricon Store online. Each of the four variants — Wild Tiger, Barnaby Brooks Jr., Wild Tiger TOPMAG Suit, and Barnaby Brooks Jr. Prototype Suit — cost 9,990 yen (about US$125).

This campaign celebrates the first Tiger & Bunny film, Gekijō-ban Tiger & Bunny -The Beginning-, which opened in movie theaters in Japan on September 22.

Eyeglass-maker JINS has also released One Piece tie-in eyeglasses in the past.

Tiger & Bunny is also receiving another tie-in with Nissin Food's Hybrid Futomen Dōdō noodles. Fans have the chance to win one of 690 ceramic bowls decorated with the character Rock Bison along with an acrylic stand. Starting October 1, those who buy the instant ramen can enter a serial number from the lid onto a site for a chance to win. All participants will receive digital items.
