Players "cut what they will" in the action spinoff by Bayonetta's Plantinum Games

GameSpot is hosting a seven-minute preview of Plantinum Games' Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. The video opens with Raiden, aka Jack the Ripper, engaging in a high-speed car chase before previewing the title's action game play. The video is restricted to viewers 18 and older due its graphic violence and gore.

Metal Gear Rising Revengeance stars Metal Gear Solid 2 protagonist Raiden, a cyborg ninja. The game's official website outlines the story:

Raiden is contracted for VIP protection, military training and other duties by PMSCs (Private Military and Security Companies) in a developing country piecing itself back together after a bloody civil war. Little does he know that the stage is set for a clash with an enigmatic force of countless cyborgs.

Reborn at the hands of PlatinumGames, Metal Gear Rising Revengeance pits cyborg against cyborg in battle that blazes past every human limit!

Kojima Productions (the company overseen by Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima) is responsible for the scenario and setting supervision of the game, while Platinum Games (Bayonetta) is handling its development.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance will ship on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 consoles in North America on February 19 after a free demo arrives on January 22. However, the Japanese release will be for the PlayStation 3 console only. Various game packages, including the limited-edition Zandatsu Package with Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance PlayStation 3, will ship in Japan on February 21.
