Sanrio's My Melody Character Gets High School Light Novel

Popular Sanrio character My Melody will star in her own 260-page light novel entitled Onegai My Melody High School on Friday. This is the first time Sanrio has supervised the creation of a light novel, which is a continuation of the original Onegai My Melody anime series that aired in 2005. Veteran staff from the anime series were also involved in the publication, with anime head writer Takashi Yamada as the author and character designer Tomoko Miyakawa as the book's illustrator.
"Onegai My Melody High School" takes place three years after My Melody was separated from her human friend Uta Yumeno to return to Mary Land. In Mary Land, My Melody's rival Kuromi stole a forbidden magic skull staff, and its power is having a negative effect on the human world. As a result, My Melody visits the human world again and reunites with Uta, who is now a second-year student in high school.
