Denver Broncos Linebacker Geared Up For Super Bowl By Catching Pokemon

posted on by Bamboo Dong

While his teammates have been hitting up nightclubs and fancy restaurants in the days leading up to the Super Bowl, Denver Broncos linebacker Nate Irving has been relaxing his own way—by playing lots of Pokémon.

The 25-year-old Bronco. recently told the Wall Street Journal that he had no plans to leave his Jersey City hotel. "I'm actually going to sit in my hotel room, play my Pokémon game," said Irving.

He frequently packs his handheld for road trips, but doesn't always let on to his teammates what he's doing. "I try to hide it from them," said Irving, "like bend over in the seat, like I'm asleep, or play with my head down." As for the teasing he sometimes receives, he said, "I know not too many people are into the things I'm into. I just embrace that and I enjoy it."

Of course, he doesn't spend all his time playing Pokémon. He also enjoys playing Call of Duty with an old college roommate, and watching the home-improvement channel HGTV.

We're thinking Irving should reach out to Houston Texans offensive tackle Brennan Williams, who embraces his nerdier hobbies. He frequently tweets about anime at @GREATBLACKOTAKU and has a Youtube channel where he chats about Space Dandy, WATAMOTE, and more.
