Naruto, Yakitate Japan Singer TiA Wins Singing Competition in Brooklyn

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

Japanese pop-singer TiA (also known as Tomoka Takayama) won the singing competition "Rip the mic" in Brooklyn last night. The singer walked away with US$1,000, the opportunity to have her songs played on the radio, and magazine coverage.

TiA previously competed in the Brooklyn 'X' Factor contest against 11 other talented vocalists for the grand prize is US$5,000 last June. However the finale was "postponed" and TiA was unable to compete due to commitments, including a concert in Japan. Since the postponement, the contest's official website has gone down and its Twitter account has not updated since May 17, 2015.

In her career, she has peformed "Ryūsei" as the sixth ending for the Naruto anime and "Promise" for the second opening of Yakitake!! Japan. She'll perform with the Omusubi Sisters at the McDonald's GospelFest 2016 in Newark, New Jersey on Saturday.
