Koichi Yamadera Voices 50 Characters in Higanjima X Net Anime's Finale

posted on by Jennifer Sherman

The official website for the Higanjima X anime shorts announced on Friday that Kōichi Yamadera voices 50 characters in the 12th and final episode. Multimedia Studio Tetra began streaming a promotional video for Yamadera's roles on Friday and a trailer for the 12th episode on March 18.

The 12th episode premiered on Niconico and YouTube on Saturday. Each episode of the series is three minutes long, but the final episode is 30 seconds longer. The website also announced on Saturday that the anime shorts will get a Blu-ray Disc release on August 30.

The anime shorts adapt Kōji Matsumoto's vampire manga franchise Higanjima (Nirvana Island). Each of the 12 episodes of Higanjima X tells a self-contained, stand-alone story, adapting key scenes and dialogue from the manga while adding some original elements. Each episode has only one voice cast member who voices all of that episode's character roles. The voice cast changes every three episodes. Shō Hayami voiced all the character roles in the first three episodes, Shigeru Chiba voiced all characters in the following three episodes, and Tomokazu Seki voiced all characters in the third set of three episodes.

The Higanjima franchise includes three manga series, two live-action films, and two live-action drama series. The second live-action film titled Higanjima Deluxe opened in Japan on October 15. The film's visual effects supervisor Mitsuhiro Taniguchi is serving as executive producer and series script supervisor for the Higanjima X anime. Ryūsuke Aoike (Kami-Usagi Rope's second director) is directing and writing the anime at Tetra and Fever Creations. Misaki Ōhira is designing the characters.

The story of the original manga follows a man named Akira, who is in the midst of the final battle between the human race and vampires. He only has 47 days until Japan is turned into an island of vampires.
