Cinnamoroll Takes the Crown in 32nd Sanrio Character Popularity Contest

As proof that you can't keep a good dog down, Sanrio character Cinnamoroll was voted the top mascot in this year's Sanrio Character Popularity contest. Previous two-time champ Pom Pom Purin came in second, followed by My Melody in third. A total of 4.3 million votes were cast to elect the victor.
Fans' top 10 favorite Sanrio characters are:

- My Melody
- Hello Kitty
- Gudetama
- Little Twin Stars
- Yoshikitty
- Kirimi-chan
- SHOW BY ROCK!!
- Pochakko
The contest awarded characters in first through 100th place. Some of the winning characters posted celebratory messages on Twitter. The puppy Cinnomoroll (also known as Cinnamon) said his heart was so full of gratitude and happiness that words failed him. Pom Pom Purin said that although he is a bit disappointed he failed to come out on top a third time, he is very happy. My Melody and friends thanked fans and said they owed their success to their supporters.
Some of the characters participated in campaigns during the voting period. Cinnamoroll rocked out with Golden Bomber and idol Hiro Shimono. My Melody unveiled new crossover goods with quintessential magical girl Sailor Moon.
The results of the mascots' potential crossover campaigns were also announced. The top choice is Cinnamoroll and Koeda-chan, a Takara Tomy brand of children's playsets. Tamagotchi and Sanrio characters took second place, followed by Animal Crossing with Sanrio characters.
