Restaurant Celebrates Urusei Yatsura's 40th Anniversary With Lum Merch
posted on by Jennifer Sherman
The nabe (hot pot) restaurant Akakara is collaborating with Rumiko Takahashi's Urusei Yatsura manga to celebrate both their anniversaries this year. Akakara is marking its 15th anniversary, and Urusei Yatsura is marking its 40th anniversary.
The collaboration will run from July 20 to August 19 and offer two themed nabe dishes to guests.
In addition to food, the promotion is offering exclusive merchandise, which will be available at Akakara restaurants and online. The items feature both a special collaboration design and Takahashi's original artwork. The collaboration T-shirts will cost 3,000 yen (about US$27) each, but each restaurant location will only offer 20 shirts.
Other collaboration merchandise includes plates and a nabe pot. Both sets of five plates and the collaboration pot all cost 10,000 yen (about US$91) each. Only 300 of each item will be available. Additionally, an Instagram campaign is offering a chance to win five of each type of T-shirt and one of each of the other items.
The Urusei Yatsura 40th anniversary project already unveiled a variety of other merchandise in May.
