Hiriluk's Cherry Blossoms Replicated at Live-Action One Piece Job Ad Press Conference
posted on by Kim Morrissy
Last year, the job search engine Indeed paired up with One Piece for a commercial. The ad starred the Straw Hat Pirates as they sing a little sea shanty about Indeed's site while staring out at the stormy sea. Arguably the most memorable thing about it was that it cast an actual reindeer as Chopper.
After the launch of that initial ad, the Indeed web site listed a job for "Chopper's assistant", who will recreate the Hiriluk's cherry blossoms in Tokyo as they appeared in episode 86 of the anime series. The volunteers would work one day between February 14-17.
There was nothing indicating that this job was a joke, and it turns out it's actually real. On February 14, the collaboration project held a press conference at Roppongi Hills that really did recreate the cherry blossoms, with the help of Chopper's assistants. Oricon posted a video of the cherry blossoms on its YouTube channel.
Actress Mari Natsuki was also present at the press conference, playing Chopper's mentor Dr. Kureha. She said, "I'm so happy to be able to participate in this project, which has gained such popularity since the end of last year. One Piece has many passionate fans, so I can do this role in a way that they can accept."
Chopper unfortunately could not leave a comment because he was an inanimate statue.
