posted on by Andrew Osmond
Includes cosplay parade and manga-inspired fashion presentation

The British Museum is listing a free event on Friday July 5 entitled "Manga: Colour and Style," running from 6 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. in the Museum's Great Court and Galleries. The event will accompany the British Musuem's Manga exhibition, which runs from May 23 to August 26, although the exhibition itself is not free and advance booking is recommended.

The July 5 event is described as follows:

"Come to the Museum for a free Friday Late celebrating Japanese manga, art, fashion and design.

The event includes free drop-in manga drawing workshops facilitated by award-winning manga artist Kutsuwada Chie, a cosplay 'COSParade' presented by HYPER JAPAN, live music performances by Ichikawa Hibiki and DJ Takaki, sake tasting with Japan House London, as well as a very special manga-inspired fashion presentation by students from the University of the Arts London (UAL) devised alongside Japanese fashion legend, Kansai Yamamoto (pictured), who will join British Museum Trustee and UAL Chancellor Grayson Perry in conversation on the night.

Japanese food and drink will be available to purchase from stands in the Great Court. Advance booking for exhibition entry recommended.

The evening also includes a special screening of the Studio Ghibli classic Pom Poko (1994). Tickets are available to purchase at listing."
