ConnectiCon in Debt

posted on by Christopher Macdonald
Webcomics Organize Drive to "Save ConnectiCon."

Last minute changes imposed on the convention by "a series of misunderstandings" have caused the organizers of ConnectiCon to incur over $30,000 of personal debt.

A group of webcomics have organized a drive to "Save ConnectiCon." Webcomics behind the project include Apple Geeks, Mac Hall, VG Cats and more.

Currently they are accepting donations via Paypal and have raised over $14,000 in under 3 days.

According to Ananth Panagariya at Applegeeks, some webcomics will also be putting original art on auction to save the event.

The Save ConnectiCon website has a members only section for individuals that donate $5 or more. The members only section includes some exclusive artwork / wallpapers and other content from the webcomics involved.

ConnectiCon is a multi-genre convention dedicated to anime, gaming, web-comics, science fiction, fantasy and more. While the event is best known for its very strong showing of web-comic artists, numerous individuals from the anime industry were present as guests, including Tiffany Grant, Steve Bennett and Chris Patton.
