CMX Gets A Girl Who Runs Through Time Manga, More (Update 2)

posted on by Druzilla

DC Comics' CMX division has announced at its Sunday panel at Comic-Con International 2007 that it will release Gaku Tsugano's two-volume manga version of A Girl Who Runs Through Time (Toki wo Kakeru Shōjo) starting September 2008. Tsugano's 2004 manga is based on an updated version of the original 1965 novel about a time-traveling Japanese girl; it predates both the 2006 movie and Ranmaru Kotone's 2006 manga adaptation of the movie. According to CMX, "A Girl Who Runs Through Time" is the title that the anime version (also known as "The Girl Who Leapt Through Time") will use.

CMX also announced the Teru Teru × Shōnen romance comedy shōjo manga by Shigeru Takao (Dear Mine) and Toshimi Nigoshi's four-volume The Flat Earth Exchange from Bros. Comics. CMX also confirmed that it will not edit the Crayon Shin-chan manga, which is scheduled to begin in early spring of 2008.

Update: CMX has also announced Shirley, the companion piece to Kaoru Mori's Emma manga which CMX also licensed. CMX indicated its interesting in acquiring Shirley during Anime Expo 2007.

Update 2: The "A Girl Who Runs Through Time" title is actually being used to distinguish Tsugano's manga from the animated movie, which will retain "The Girl Who Leapt Through Time" title.
